A local cult summons the evil Hangman demon
Plot
Troubled father Leon flies to Appalachia. He disappears. Leon has to confront the cult and the monster to find him amidst the mounting body count. During the climactic fight with The Hangman, Leon doesn’t pull the pin on the grenade (the safety lever is clearly still in place). It wouldn’t have exploded, he would have been better off hitting him with it.
Leon: What’s up, Toots?
Written and acted by the same person? A recipe for failure. It’s very rare for someone in this industry to perform more than one function. Here, the writer also plays the main character. Well, he can’t act.
At least not in this movie
And the story was all over the place and trashy, so clearly he can’t write. And that seems to be a common theme when people try to do too much in show business. But the movie, well, it’s not good. A black man and his son going camping in Appalachia? Pause.
We’re not doing that
First of all, camping is not our thing. Second, we know better than to go out and find racism, a place. The initial snarky bond should have told me this movie was off. But then we meet the racist locals. Sigh.
It’s played out
This is done to death. Then there’s this executioner. It was more of an afterthought. If they had focused more on that and the cult and left out the racism stuff that didn’t add anything, maybe this could have been 3 stars instead of 1.
